Synopsis
Het indrukwekkende verhaal van Poolse gevechtspiloten die de RAF steunen tijdens de Slag om Engeland. Ze vechten voor de vrijheid van hun land boven vreemd grondgebied.
In de zomer van 1940 lijdt de RAF zware verliezen in de luchtoorlog tegen de Duitse Luftwaffe. Poolse gevechtspiloten, die de vernietiging van hun vaderland zijn ontvlucht om in Engeland verder te vechten worden met de nek aangekeken door de Britse legerleiding en militairen. Ondanks hun gevechtservaring worden ze aan de grond gehouden. Maar de situatie wordt nijpend voor de RAF en de charismatische Jan Zumbach weet eindelijk het commando te overtuigen om zijn squadron de lucht in te sturen. In oude, versleten Hurricane vliegtuigen vechten de Polen met een fanatisme en doodsverachting die de Nazi’s nederlaag op nederlaag toebrengt. Uiteindelijk spelen hun heldendaden en verliezen een onmisbare rol in de Britse overwinning op de Luftwaffe…

Synopsis

Summer 1940: The RAF suffers heavy losses in the air war against the German Luftwaffe. Polish fighter pilots fled the destruction of their home country to fight on in England. They are ridiculed by British command and fellow pilots. Despite their combat experience they remain grounded. But the situation becomes desperate for the RAF and the charismatic Jan Zumbach finally convinces command to make his squadron airborne. In old, beat-up Hurricane planes the Polish pilots fight with fanatic disregard for their lives. They deliver the Nazis defeat after defeat and ultimately play an essential part in the British victory over the Luftwaffe…
